A Brief Introduction to Fudan University Journal of Medical Science

 Fudan University Journal of Medical Science, in continuous publication since 1956, is a Chinese peer-reviewed general medical journal published biomonthly by the Fudan University. Currently, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal is GUI Yong-hao . The journal mainly publishes original articles on biomedical subjects, including basic medical sciences, clinical medicine, public health, and pharmacy. Categories of articles include original research papers, rapid research reports, clinical experiences communications, methods and techniques, reviews, case reports, lectures, etc. Articles are published in Chinese with English abstract, as well as English figure legends and tables. A few papers are published in English. The journal has English catalogue and copyright page.

As a leading university in China, Fudan University’s world academic ranking is No. 103, according to the Times Higher Education Supplement, 2009. Meanwhile, as one of the top medical colleges in China, Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University has been attracting national and worldwide excellent biomedical researchers to gather, stay, work and study in the campus. The college owns 22 national funded research subjects, 14 national key laboratories, 35 doctoral programs and 39 master programs. Researches on basic medical sciences, clinical medicine, public health, and pharmacy are competitive. Fudan Univ J Med Sci has been providing an academic communication platform for home and national university faculties, clinical practioners as well as institutional researchers.

Up to the end of 2009, Fudan Univ J Med Sci has been covered in many international databases, including Chemical Abstracts, ProQuest CSA, BIOSIS Previews, Elsevier Scopus, Index of Copurnicus (Poland), Abstracts Journal (Russia), and Ulrich's Periodicals Directory. Also it has already been covered in the main Chinese databases such as Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Sci-tech Paper and Citation Database (CSTPCD), etc.

Fudan Univ J Med Sci has its own website (http://jms.fudan.edu.cn) and online manuscript submission and review system. All submitted manuscripts are reviewed initially by an editor. Manuscripts are first evaluated according to academic misconduct detect system (http://check3.cnki.net/amlc/), and are requested to provide a written statement of informed consent for publication and non-multiple submission, which should be signed by every author. Manuscripts with insufficient priority for publication are rejected promptly. Other manuscripts are sent to expert consultants for peer review. Peer reviewer identities are kept confidential, but author identities are made known to the reviewers. The existence of a manuscript under review is not revealed to anyone other than peer reviewers and editorial staff. Qualified manuscripts are asked to revise 2 or 3 times before being published, in order to achieve good writing based on good research. Experts of our Editorial Board participate actively in the evaluating process. Editor-in-chief reviews every manuscript before it is published or rejected .
