Objective To evaluate the expressions of c-src and c-met in thyroid papillary cancer (TPC) and to investigate their associations with lymph node metastasis. Methods The expressions of c-src and c-met were evaluated by immunohistochemistry in 35 cases of TPC, and their associations with clinicalpathological characters were analyzed. The expressions of c-src and c-met in 16 cases of primary carcinoma and metastatic carcinoma were evaluated by the same method. Results The positive rates of c-src and c-met in 35 cases of TPC were 62.9% and 97.1%.They had statistical differences compared with benign tissues (P=0.000 4, P<0.001). The expression of c-src in tumor tissues was associated with tumor grade and lymph node metastasis (P=0.000 2, P=0.001 7), and the association between c-met expression and patient age was also found (P=0.015 5). The positive expression of c-src closely related to the expression of c-met, The positive rates of c-src and c-met in metastatic carcinoma were higher than those in primary carcinoma (93.8%), but there was no statistical difference between the expressions of c-src and c-met in primary carcinoma and metastatic carcinoma. Conclusions The abnormal expressions of c-src and c-met might play an important role in the growth and invasion of TPC, and might have some relationship with lymph node metastasis.
